Coffee: An Acquired Taste

BrewItUp   July 28, 2010

coffeeAlthough I’m now an outspoken advocate of organic espresso coffee, I certainly didn’t start out that way.  The newfound coffee snob in me tells me to say I started out with a refined palate, but I actually started out drinking Folgers. I thought what the heck, it’s cheap and I could drink it everyday at a minimal cost.

Then my coffee tastes started to kick in and I began drinking more and more coffee outside of the house. That’s when I realized that coffee wasn’t just about caffeine; there was an amazing depth of flavor to take into consideration. I began to research the various coffee options available to me and I haven’t looked back since.

Organic Blends Taste Better!

BrewItUp   June 15, 2010

green-coffeeWhen it comes to coffee, we all want the finest beans fresh ground for that rich flavor. Most people wake up with their coffee, and overall, it sets the tone for the whole day. Thus, the morning coffee can be the most essential part of the day, and the best coffee to drink in the morning is organic coffee. Coffee that is certified organic comes from natural beans grown with no pesticides or chemicals, and no matter what the roast, it just tastes better than commercial coffee.

Perhaps the best part about organic espresso coffee is the fact that purchasing it is not condoning acts that ravage the environment and companies that use pesticides and chemicals. Organic food not only tastes better, but it’s better for humans and better for the environment. Give up those commercially grown beans and drink coffee with organic coffee beans; the way it was meant to taste!

Buying (and Getting) Organic Products

BrewItUp   June 1, 2010

tealeafIn today’s market, a vast number of retailers are happy to jump on the organic bandwagon. To that end, they label their products as organic just to pique the interest of eco-conscious shoppers. Playing to the trends, this kind of marketing is actually quite harmful to the organic market overall. This is because people who purchase something marked as “organic” expect that the product was made in a humane, sustainable, and eco-friendly manner.

If the product, then, doesn’t conform to those standards, people can become jaded about the organic market as a whole. If this is something that you’re concerned with, make sure that the products you purchase are certified as organic. This certification helps increase the likelihood that the product was actually created in a manner that you’re happy with. This is particularly important when it comes to food or drinks, because organic products can actually be safer for you to consume. So always make sure to drink certified organic tea if you want your brewed beverage in the morning to be sustainable and healthy.

Seduction by the Organic Beast

Have you noticed that within the last few years organic products have been the craze?  A conspiracy that I’m convinced was started by those vegan hippies; society tells us that organic products are healthier. But the only difference I can tell is that organic products are much more expensive. And as a just-starting-out career woman, frankly I don’t have the money to splurge on fancy foods when I can buy the same products for less.

The irony of this story is that, as it turns out, there is one organic product I’ve come across that is a regular part of my grocery list – organic decaf coffee. It’s without a doubt the best beverage to savor in the evenings. Warm and rich, its soothing aromas melt my senses delivering me to state of ultimate relaxation, just before bed. And so organic freaks, coffee lovers and troubled sleepers, I recommend this product with full confidence that your experience will be just as tasty.
