Handmade Brown Sugar Scrubs

Sugar scrubs have the glamorous feeling of a luxury spa item even when you make them at home. These lovely little bath treats are quick and easy to make (and they’re wonderful gifts).

You can find many of the ingredients for your handmade scrubs right in your own pantry, at your local grocery, or in a whole foods store. Feel free to make some substitutions in order to use your favorite oils or scents. Once you get the basic idea for the recipe, you’ll see plenty of ways to mix and match carrier oils and fragrances.

You can even create your own signature sugar body scrub by experimenting with various scents and herbal additions.

To use your bath scrub, simply scoop out a handful onto a washcloth or bath sponge and cleanse and exfoliate your skin by rubbing gently in a circular motion. Rinse and enjoy the super-clean glow of radiant, healthy skin!

Basic Brown Sugar Scrub
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup almond oil
1/4 cup unscented liquid hand soap
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Lavender Honey Scrub
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup almond oil
1/4 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
5 drops lavender essential oil

Lemon Rose Sugar Scrub
1 cup sugar (brown or white)
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
4 drops rosewood essential oil

Sweet and Spicy Scrub
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup almond oil
2 teaspoons powdered cinnamon
2 teaspoons powdered ginger
2 teaspoons powdered nutmeg

Vanilla Coffee Sugar Scrub
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup almond oil
3 tablespoons fresh coffee grounds
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
